1/4 c butter, melted

10 peppermint patties (the small size) chopped

1/2 cup butter

2 eggs - lightly beaten

1 t vanilla

1/2 c flour

Sprinkle chopped peppermint patties over the chocolate wafer mixture.

Next, combine 1/2 c of butter and chocolate squares in a glass bowl. Microwave butter/chocolate mixture At 1 minute intervals or until butter melts, stir until chocolate melts and mixture is smooth.

Stir in sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add flour and salt, stir well and pour over crust.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and immediately place halved peppermint Patties across top; then bake for another 3 minutes. Remove from oven and spread and swirl melted peppermint patties over brownies.

Brownies usually appear a tad underdone when actually it's time to pull them out of the oven. The brownies most likely will be ready to pull out at 30 minutes, but the true test is when the brownies are starting to pull away from the side of the pan and the top is slighly cracked.

Using foil sides, lift brownies out of pan when cool and cut into squares.
