Our Thoughts
today
become
Our Lives
tomorrow

Fill your mind with an expectancy of good things.  Truly, if we believe that the thoughts we think and the actions we take, lead to the person we become, then it is incumbent upon us to raise our standards in daily life.  When we fill our mind with the expectancy of God, He will answer.  Often, His presence is placed squarely in our sight.  God is here and we can sense it, if we calm ourselves and bother to really look.  In some ways, it can be likened to bird watching, in that we must silence our voices, be still and sharpen our vision so that our awareness is heightened and we are able recognize the trill of bird song or the pattern of a feathered wing when it crosses our field of vision.

Walk outside and acknowledge how your thoughts, voice and movement seem to quiet down so as to awaken your senses to the natural world.  God often speaks to our souls in this setting.  When the mind quiets down, the soul can emerge and take notice of our environment on a much deeper level.

We can prepare for this deeper realization by appreciating the inherent beauty in simple things, such as the unique color, texture and scent of a flower.  A full conversation with God is held within a single petal.  To see God’s presence in the world, we must look at our surroundings with eyes of wonder.  It is in this spirit that we recognize, God is speaking to us.

Whenever complicated issues cloud our outlook, we plead for answers, understanding or direction.  We are most able to begin unraveling the threads of a problem through stillness and silence.  In moments of duress, close your eyes and affirm to yourself that all is well.  Breathe deeply and know that you are equipped to walk through the present moment. You will emerge stronger, wiser, more compassionate and able to be of service to another soul as a result of this experience.  The truth of the matter, is that indeed, all is well in the contextual reality that we are eternal souls and will someday be one with God.

Resist the urge to escape the discomfort by engaging mindlessly with a favorite distraction, instead, remain with the feeling.  Give your mind the command to be still. We do this, by turning off the chaotic nature of our thoughts and choosing not to fall into the habit of busyness.  Surrender to the moment and simply experience the feeling.  Tune out any negative thoughts.   The unsettled feeling of a churning mind is of no assistance.

Fill your mind instead, with thoughts and images of peacefulness and calm.  Take back the power of the quality of your life, despite uncertainty, by reining in your thoughts and re-directing them towards a higher purpose.  Finally, relinquish your attachment to a specific outcome and be OK with whatever happens.  Trust the situation and your life to God’s overall plan.  It’s not easy, but it’s very simple.

Imagine this... a year from now, after spending 12 months filling your mind with positive, productive and inspirational concepts, you are in midst of leading a vibrant life in a completely new way.  No longer will you reach for your smart phone to distract you from the discomfort of the moment.  Instead, you will instinctively gather your own positive energy and stay with a problem from a calm and compassionate place of being.

Do this consistently and over time, an entirely different perspective will emerge.  You will become a far more spiritual being, living a life you not only deserve, but have always hoped for.  The goal is acceptance in a spirit of peace and harmony.  Create within yourself the beauty you wish to see in the rest of the world.  Focus on gradually improving all aspects of yourself.

In time, as we replace the darkness with light, we become enlightened beings.  From this foundation of serenity, we are more spiritually inclined to recognize our path, our destiny, our special purpose.  Take the high road.  Permit only a certain caliber of thoughts to touch your mind.  This takes practice, but it will become second nature to you.  Over time, the life you live will flow towards the good.  Choose peaceful, loving compassionate thoughts, and you will become these things in all aspects of your being.
