Disharmony with others

Try saying, "God Bless her (or him)" of anyone who is in disharmony with you. Also say it of those who are in trouble through their own fault. Say it, willing that showers of blessings may fall upon them. Let God do the blessing. Leave to God the necessary correcting or disciplining. You should only desire blessing for them. Leave God's work to God. Occupy yourself with the task that He gives you to do. God's blessing will also break down all your own difficulties and build up all your successes.

St. Brigid of Kildare

Woman of Peace

There was much domestic strife in the Ireland of St. Brigid's day, as clan feuds were commonplace. St. Brigid is often depicted as the one who intervened in disputes between rival factions; so as to bring healing and reconciliation. The life of St. Brigid is distinguished by her simplicity; and her natural approach to dealing with life and it's many complicated issues. She reminds us that the raw materials for peace-making are within each of us. The road to peace lies in our own heart. When searching for justice look to your own relationships and give up the need to dominate or manipulate and have a readiness to forgive yourself and others. Be inspired by St. Brigid, a woman of peace and walk the road of your own life in peace.

Deep peace of the running wave to you;

Deep peace of the flowing air to you;

Deep peace of the quiet earth to you;

Deep peace of the shining stars to you;

Deep peace of the Son of peace to you.

Begin to appreciate yourself

A Blessing of Solitude

May you recognise in your life the presence,

power and light of your soul.

May you realise that you are never alone,

that your soul in its brightness and belonging

connects you intimately with the rhythm of the universe.

May you realise that the shape of your soul is unique,

that you have a special destiny here,

that behind the façade of your life, there is something

beautiful, good and eternal happening.

May you learn to see your self with the same delight,

pride and expectation

with which God sees you in every moment.

Reflection from 'Rekindling the Flame

A Pilgrimage in the footsteps of Brigid of Kildare'

by Rita Minehan CSB

Inner Struggle

The following reflection is from the book, 'The Inner Voice of Love' by Henri J.M. Nouwen.

It's a great piece on the inner struggle we can experience as we try to move on in life after change comes into our lives. This reflection captures the process that we undergo as we step back and forth between the comfort zone of the past and the unknown that represents the future.

Enter the New Country

You have an idea of what the new country looks like. Still, you are very much at home, although not truly at peace, in the old country. You know the ways of the old country, its joys and pains, its happy and sad moments. You have spent most of your days there. Even though you know that you have not found there what your heart most desires, you remain quite attached to it. It has become part of your very bones.

Now you have come to realize that you must leave it and enter the new country, where your Beloved dwells. You know that what helped and guided you in the old country no longer works, but what else do you have to go by? You are being asked to trust that you will find what you need in the new country. That requires the death of what has become so precious to you: influence, success, yes, even affection and praise.

Trust is so hard, since you have nothing to fall back on. Still, trust is what is essential. The new country is where you are called to go, and the only way to go there is naked and vulnerable.

It seems that you keep crossing and recrossing the border. For a while you experience a real joy in the new country. But then you feel afraid and start longing again for all you left behind, so you go back to the old country. To your dismay, you discover that the old country has lost its charm. Risk a few more steps into the new country, trusting that each time you enter it, you will feel more comfortable and be able to stay longer.

The Evolving Relationship

.... open up to hope and new possibilities ...

Some mornings we may awaken filled with thoughts of what is wrong in our lives. Perhaps we obsess about our failures or the limits of our relationships. If we let ourselves sink into self-loathing, we build a wall that separates us from those things that nurture us and give us joy.

When we awaken to the living and growing world, our spirits lift and open up to hope and new possibilities. Walking along an old sidewalk or across an abandoned parking lot, we see cracks in the concrete or asphalt and new green growth pushing through. Where there is enough soil to hold a seed, there is the possibility of a tree someday. The universe seizes opportunities for renewal that slip through the slightest opening. There is always hope for renewal in our relationships when we are willing to plant the seeds and feed them so they can grow.

Name an experience that has shown you the seeds for new growth.

Letting Go

"All endings are inexorably tied to new beginnings. That's the

nature of the journey. It continues to unfold. It builds on

itself. It can't help itself from doing that. Cherish the

moments, all of them. You have seen and felt much in life so

But still, the best is yet to come."

--Melody Beattie

(This inspirational read was sent to me by a friend...)

Letting go is perhaps one of the most difficult challenges we face. Our egos easily and all too eagerly attach to things, people, and outcome. Letting go of these attachments can be painful, particularly when we can't see what's ahead. Throughout the years, many clients have shared how they have a "back-up person" waiting in the wings just in case their current relationship ends. The fear of the unknown (and being alone), for some, creates feelings that are intolerable. Having "plan B" in place may mitigate some of the fear, but it doesn't address the real fear: letting go.

I have always found the metaphor of a closed fist and open hand helpful; a closed fist represents our resistance to letting go, while an open hand symbolizes our willingness to embrace the present and future. Moving from a closed fist to an open hand is a process. It requires patience and the willingness to release what no longer serves us. The choice to let go allows us to follow the pathway to our soul.

Life is a series of things to let go of-our friends and loved ones, our children as they grow, our youth, our perceptions of ourselves. In my own life, I have found myself having to let go more these past few years than ever before. In the last two years, I have been faced with letting go of my daughter, twice. First, when she graduated from high school and moved in with her best friend, and second, when I moved from Michigan to California (she still resides in the Midwest).

Moving away also meant letting go of friends, clients, and my home base where I was born and raised. Less than a year after moving, my father passed away and I was confronted with letting go on an even deeper level. Was any of this easy? No-in fact I'm still working my way through some of it. But, I'm discovering that as long as I keep an open hand (and heart), my experience of letting go is much less stressful. In fact, I remain inspired to let go, knowing that I'm clearing the pathway for my soul to continue its journey and fulfill its destiny.

What do you need to let go of? Perhaps there is a self-limiting or destructive pattern that needs to be released, or maybe you feel compelled to pursue a dream that requires letting go of the work you're currently performing. The important thing to remember is that no matter how daunting it may feel, you possess an inner strength and courage that is greater than any situation.

Courage is about letting go and moving forward, not in the absence of fear, but in the presence of it. When you realize the inner power you possess, you can let go of your attachments. This doesn't mean that you don't work your hardest for the highest outcome, but rather, that you do your best and leave the rest to Spirit.

What is it time to release? You have two choices; you can either try to hold onto the past with a closed fist, or you can choose to embrace today with an open hand. As you already know, the former will cause you (and others) unnecessary pain and suffering, while the latter might trigger some fear of the unknown, yet provide rich, new experiences for your heart and soul. Which will you choose?

Affirmations for Letting Go:

The past is over; I plan for tomorrow and live for today.

All my experiences are allowing me to become a stronger and

wiser person.

As I let go of attachments, I create room for fulfilling and

soulful experiences.

I let go easily for I trust that new and exciting opportunities

are on their way.

Accept Heaven's Help

Please Remember...

The wonder of it all is...

that we live in the blessings of everyday life

that are...

the wonder of it all.

For an instant, I am absent from:

myself, my problems, my anxieties and my troubles;

nothing, but this wonder exists.

Say yes...

Say yes to all that is.

Say yes, and let your energy flow in a positive, useful direction.

Fighting against what already exists is foolish.

Accept that things are as they are, and you gain the power to determine what they will become.

Say yes to this moment that is now.

Be fully present, and you are fully effective.

Would you like to be more accepting of those around you and of the positive possibilities available to you?

Say yes, and it is so.

The disappointments, excuses and self-imposed limitations need no longer hold you back.

Say yes to your highest and most meaningful vision of what life can be.

Say yes to all that life sends your way. And in each moment you'll find great value.

Waves of Now

Waves of Now...

The problems may be great, yet your ability to successfully deal with them is greater.

Each disappointment can be painful, and yet through that pain you are compelled to grow stronger and more capable.

Life goes on, and each moment brings new positive possibilities.

You live, you learn, you experience, and through it all you become more fully alive than ever.

You have carried with you to this moment all the joy and beauty you've ever known.

Now you are in a position to discover and to fulfill even more.

Seek not to fight against ‘what is’; for within ‘what is’, the very real opportunity exists for precisely what you wish to be.

In whatever may come your way, you can find the energy and substance to bring your own dreams to life.

Run eagerly to greet each moment, for in each moment is the opportunity to fully live.

Life's sparkling treasure rolls in on endless waves of now. Appreciate the depth and the vastness of that treasure, and it is yours.

Please Remember...

Our mind likes to think that we are going 'here' or 'there'...but in truth we are always in the 'now' and that is the open secret to life.

Have Hope and Faith

"Have faith and hope,

because there is something positive and new on the horizon

that you can't yet see."

"The seeds that you have planted are beginning to sprout results. You may not even be aware of these results, however, since they are in their infancy.

Now it is more important than ever to stay positive, and to hold a clear vision of your desire and intention.

Avoid skeptics or those with negative mind-sets.

Daily action even if it only consists of baby steps-toward the fruition of your dream is essential.

A phone call, a letter, or reading relevant material will keep the energy of your manifestation at a high level.

Every day, positively affirm that you have already achieved or exceeded your dream.

And most important, ask for angelic assistance every step of the way."
