At the end of a busy day, sitting down to do a little stitching, is for me, a wonderful way to relax. While I usually have a larger, more involved project in the works, I also like taking a break from it. A quick little project like the one pictured above, comes together fast and will usually end up featured on a hand made greeting card. I had some empty wall space in the laundry room and came up with this easy way to display one of my favorite quick-stitch patterns.
Get started by picking up a bit of fabric and a couple of stitchery hoops. The top part of the fabric background consists of three circles. You’ll need one more circle for the back of the project. I used a stitchery hoop one size up from the display hoop to trace the pattern pieces as you’ll need a bit of fabric overlay to finish the product.
Begin by edge stitching each of the 4 circles.
Next iron the top pieces in half.
Stitch each half circle close to the edge.
At this point, you’ll need to attach the two half circles to piece of muslin. Once, that step is complete, machine stitch the cross stitch design to the center of the fabric piece.
Place the completed front inside the hoop and tighten the screw.
Now, flip it over and use masking tape to secure the overlay fabric to the back of the project.
Using Aleene’s fabric fusion adhesive, glue a circle of fabric to the back to cover the masking tape.
Pretty easy, don’t you think?
Here’s another one that I made that same afternoon.
