The arrival of Spring is welcomed by earth’s harmonious response to an impulse of life from Divine Intelligence. It bursts forth, fresh and vibrant with new growth. Heavenly bird song rides the wind and tender green, newly formed leaves cover the land; expressing the unlimited possibility of Creation. Warmth and golden light dance upon the earth, in symphony with nature’s rhythm. Out of the darkness of winter, brilliant color and fragrance blossom forth. Can you feel the spiritual energy all around you? Spring is a fortuitous time for re-awakening a rapport with the natural world.
Each day we receive a stream of life-giving energy from our Creator. This energy extols the infinite power of God. It is present throughout our environment. We are not separate from the natural world, we are part of it. The deep peace that we feel when we spend time outside, is actually a reflection of our true nature. If we begin to listen with our heart, we can sense the unseen energy flowing throughout all of creation.
Spring is a time to release what no longer serves us, just as a seed is freed from its husk. At this juncture in the earth’s revolution around the sun, we are inwardly moved to embrace new life. The workings of nature are both accurate and harmonious, on every level, from the sprouting seed to the stars following their course in the night sky. This harmony and accuracy also exists within every person, although often unawakened. The keynote that defines spring, is a spirit of aspiration. There is a still, small oasis of peace within that responds to the workings of nature.
It is no mere happenstance that a change of season coincides with religious holidays. Far more illuminated minds perceived the cosmic power of God’s universe. They sensed a release of divine energy that is meant to empower our eternal, spiritual unfoldment. Religious festivals and seasonal apertures were brought together for purposes of revealing nature’s power, as reflected in human lives where a kinship with the Divine Pattern has been restored. The Universe, its Laws and the recurring patterns found in nature, of which the human is a part, are authored by a Source consumed with love. Spring is an invitation to the human spirit to replace discord with harmony, through a re-unification with the Whole of Creation.
Was it not in Spring, when Christ rose triumphantly from the tomb of death? When we consider the resurrection of Jesus through a perspective of new life, which is the inner hope of Spring, we are asked to re-awaken our own buried powers, as well as to aim the trajectory of our lives ever upward. Can we finally remember who we are? We are a microcosm, a universe in miniature affected by the seasons, as is nature - for we are One.
Whatever your innermost aspiration might be, Spring is a time best suited for new directions in life. Retreat into the silence of nature. Find balance. Rejuvenate your spirit. Open yourself to the energy of trees and plants, and heal your soul. Plan to enjoy the abundance promised in Summer, by tending to new growth during Spring. Give free rein to your deepest desire. Truly, one can work with the cosmic forces at play during the Vernal Equinox. Give expression to the creativity welling up within and make harmonious use of this seasonal power that is busy greening the earth.
Spring arrives as a rivulet of cold, crystal clear water trickling steadily over a rock and down into a fast moving creek, in the pale sunshine of a March dawn. We might hear the sound of water, and yet, all of nature hears music from the deepening stream of melting snow. Waxy buds appear on newly awakened branches covered with tender, green leaves. The essence of God’s all consuming love is hidden in every fruit, nut, grain and flower that is born in the promise of Spring. The breeze is scented with a blend of of rain, the perfume of lemon blossoms and freshly worked soil. God’s Blessing caresses the land and all who walk upon it. Open your heart to the spiritual energy of the Vernal Equinox, as it touches every soul.

Fear cannot co-exist with divine love, and as this love is the foundation of all that which is sacred, it is possible to live fearlessly.
