Let Summer Pull You Outside
July 06, 2017
'A LIFE WELL LIVED' E-Zine
Stepping outside first thing in the morning, and as the very last action on a long, summer day, is among my favorite things to do. The air is scented with herbs and earth and honeysuckle blossom. Nature’s perfume. Inhale deeply and exhale completely. I love summer for a million reasons, but being outside is the biggest part of it all. Let Summer Pull You Outside!
We don’t need a task to accomplish, simple relaxation is reason enough. In fact, learning how to do absolutely nothing, peacefully, is not a bad goal to set. There is a lot going on outside; birds are singing, flowers are opening, butterflies are fluttering past, and that’s just outside the door.
There are less manicured areas of the natural world somewhere nearby and I’ve yet to meet anyone who hasn’t enjoyed a walk in the woods. Let’s place ‘get outside’ at the top of our ‘to do’ list and keep it in a priority position. Each moment spent in nature helps us move into a more natural rhythm. What’s growing in the garden? …
Along with dragon tongue beans, tomatoes, herbs, Kale and Swiss chard, I also have begonias, lots of begonias…
For a couple of years now, I’ve been drawn to begonias; specifically angel wing begonias. The diversity in this single plant species is massive. I have begonias with petite leaves and blossoms, as well as the opposite. Leaf size and blossom color is equally diverse, and one of my newest acquisitions is the ‘Debbie Davenport’ Begonia which has pink polka dots. They take a bit more TLC than other Begonias, but when they settle in, they really take off!
Novel News …
Finally, a novel is underway and I hope to have it published by the end of the year. I most definitely go off on a bit of a creative retreat between books, but for me, it’s necessary. While I have completed a plot outline for the third book in the Celtic Heart Historical Fiction Series, a.k.a. the continuing saga of Kate O’Reilly … that particular novel is waiting in the queue. Currently, I am working on a very, different novel … At this time, I will simply state that there are Angels involved, and that this novel falls into the metaphysical genre. More will be revealed …
As is my usual approach, I’ve included a spiritual bit of writing, a brief, inspirational video in this summer newsletter and a couple of #cleaneating recipes.
My wish for you, is that you enjoy the beauty and bounty of summer. May your worries fall to the side as you enjoy the natural world in full bloom.

Lemony Couscous Veggie Salad
A hot summer night deserves a cool supper salad. This couscous salad is one of my favorites. Make it the morning and let it chill all day long. I serve the couscous salad cold, even when I add hot meatballs for the sake of my husband, and call it dinner. Cold salad and hot meatballs? Yes, it’s crazy, but somehow it works.
